About Us
Composting Hustle. Local Legacy. Zero Waste for Real.
Waste Not is more than a composting company — we’re a movement rooted in New York City, born from the belief that food waste should never go to waste.
Founded by a native New Yorker and Master Composter, we bring community values, street smarts, and climate commitment to every bucket we pick up. From local cafés to home kitchens, our mission is to make composting convenient, cost-effective, and truly sustainable — especially in neighborhoods historically overlooked by green initiatives.
As a certified M/WBE micro-hauler, we specialize in small-scale, high-impact organics collection using electric cargo bikes and clean vehicles. We don’t just collect waste — we create living soil, close the loop, and build community resilience.
Why Choose Waste Not?
Because we’re built for this city.
Because we show up.
Because we hustle with purpose.

The benefits of food waste composting are numerous and include:
Conservation of Natural Resources:
Composting and repurposing reduces the need for new raw materials and conserves natural resources, such as trees for paper production and oil for plastic production.
Reduction of Landfill Waste:
By recycling food scraps and organic waste, the amount of waste that goes into landfills is reduced, which helps to conserve space and reduce environmental pollution.
Energy Savings:
Composting locally often requires less energy than transporting waste materials via diesel trucks, leading to energy savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Jobs Creation:
The recycling industry creates jobs in the collection, processing, and repurposing of waste materials.
Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions:
Recycling helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the energy needed to produce new materials and by diverting waste from landfills where it can produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
Economic Benefits:
The recycling industry generates revenue and contributes to local economies. Additionally, recycling can also reduce the cost of waste disposal.
Overall, food waste composting is an important way to reduce waste, conserve resources, protect the environment, and support economic development.
